The environment is greatly affected by our dietary choices. Right now, intensive animal agricultural practices are so severely degrading the land, water and air that a change in our diets must be swift, or the valuable resources on which our lives depend will continue to be eroded, depleted and polluted beyond repair.

The easiest and best way to help farm animals and the planet is to go vegan, but here are few more ways you can help:

Post a Farm Sanctuary video on your MySpace page or personal blog to raise awareness about the cruelty to animals and the devastating environmental impacts associated with factory farming.

Host a potluck to show your friends and family how easy it is to be eco- and animal-friendly by choosing to eat vegan foods. Here are some great recipes to get you started. Be sure to print out a few extra copies for people who want to make your dish on their own!

Order Farm Sanctuary’s "20 Reasons to Go Veg" flyers, and pass them out at festivals or place them at your favorite café, grocery store, laundromat or even at work. Simply keep a small stack with you whenever you go out.

Reach thousands of people by writing letters to the editors of your local newspapers about farm animal issues. Remind readers that a recent United Nations report found that the “food animal” industry produces more greenhouse-gas emissions than all of the cars, trucks, SUVs, planes, and ships in the world combined! Check out Farm Sanctuary’s tools and resources for letter writing or contact campaign@farmsanctuary.org for tips. Find out more about the devastating environmental impact of factory farming.

Contact your local radio station and ask them to run, or sponsor, one of Farm Sanctuary’s Environmental Audio PSA’s. Or contact Farm Sanctuary about sponsoring placement of an Environmental Print Ad.
